DNREC Energy Efficiency Investment Fund rebate program

Energy Efficiency Investment Fund (EEIF)

Delaware, for organisations that pay the Public Utility Tax

DNREC Energy Efficiency Investment Fund

The other half of the Delaware fund, administered by DNREC's Division of Climate, Coastal and Energy. This is the one that covers ordinary commercial and industrial facilities, and it also pays for the audit.

What the program actually pays for

  • Open to all non-residential, commercial and industrial entities in Delaware that pay the Public Utility Tax on their monthly electric or natural gas bills.
  • Funds lighting and controls alongside HVAC, water heating, food service equipment, steam systems, building envelope work, chillers, boilers and combined heat and power.
  • Standard projects are funded at 60 percent of the energy efficiency related project costs, up to $250,000 per individual address per calendar year.
  • Energy audits are funded separately, up to $5,000 for a single-purpose audit and up to $10,000 for a comprehensive one.
  • Pre-approval is required for custom and combined heat and power projects, and optional for prescriptive and energy assessment projects.
  • Reservation periods run 120 days for prescriptive, 12 months for custom and 18 months for combined heat and power.

Timing. Applications are accepted on a year-round, rolling basis, so the constraint is the annual per-address cap rather than a closing date.
